Twin Lakes began as a legacy of the family of Wade G. and Agnes Coble. As members of Macedonia Lutheran Church, the Cobles left a bequest of $3.5 million to the church to establish health services for the elderly in Alamance County. The local church formed Lutheran Retirement Ministries of Alamance County NC and began the mission which became Twin Lakes Community. Twin Lakes first opened its doors in April 1983 with the Coble Healthcare Building, three apartment buildings and ten cottages. Twin Lakes has become home to many Alamance County natives as well as residents from a variety of locations throughout the United States. As Twin Lakes succeeds and demand increases, the expansions have taken place to create a campus of over 300 independent living homes. And Twin Lakes continues to grow!
Twin Lakes is located on the border of Elon and Burlington, North Carolina.
